Update on 2022 Taos.
Bought mine December 2021 - two weeks in I had an oil leak. The turbo return line needed replacing. This took 10 weeks as parts were not available. August 2023 I had a low coolant issue. Cylinder head gasket was blown and had to be replaced. Another 2 weeks in a loaner vehicle while waiting for parts. I picked up my repaired vehicle on August 31 but now, as of yesterday (September 3) I have another major oil leak. I have lost all faith in my Taos and feel forced to buy a new, reliable vehicle. I will be contacting Volkswagen Customer Care to see what they can do for me.

Ours is a Novmber 2021 production car bought December 2021. It was at the dealer 3 1/2 months this year (May to August) waiting for parts and the tools to install them. This was all related to the coolant leak. They replaced the head gasket and also the cylinder head. As I understand what the technician said, the cylinder head design, which has the exhaust manifold integrated, accumulates carbon along the manifold side and by around 30K km (20K miles) the accumulation can cause the head to warp and thus the head gasket to leak on the firewall side of the engine. VW has redesigned the cylinder head and that was a big part of the delay apparently. But we had a new Tiguan as a loaner so the delay was no major inconvenience. I certainly hope the new head design solves the problem. The SA thought this may be a recall or a TSB at some point. For some reason, they've only seen this on the Taos and not the Jetta which uses the same engine.
Thanks for this message. I'm happy to hear the cylinder head has a new design. I was not able to get an answer to that question when I asked at my dealership. I am curious to find out the cause of my recent oil leak. I am hoping it is an easy fix - maybe something was not tightened enough after replacing the head gasket.
