I am on the fence to trade-in my 2014 Jetta TDI SportWagen and get a Taos SE. I wish, however, the Taos came with a clean, single color interior instead of two-tone panelling and seatings. My favorite is the Titan Black leatherette like the one in the Tiguan SE. Hoping it will be available in 2023 Taoses.

p.s. what do you wish the Taos came with as standard equipment or option?

Standard automatic instead of duel clutch for AWD might make it less jumpy.

I had aTiguan 2018 SEL premium before and I miss the lift gate, cornering lights, fender audio (now Bose), trailer hitch (supports adding one) for bikes, some missing ambient lights like around panoramic moonroof and feet, and some leather surfaces.

I can’t complain too much though as I’m pretty happy with my Taos SEL 4motion. I especially like the ventilated seats that only come with the awd model. Wireless iPhone charger and wireless airplay is cool. The car as a whole feels a lot lighter than the Tiguan with better handling so that’s a major plus also, as well as better fuel economy.

With the price point, I can see them cutting off a few features.. Things I'd want to see:
Turn signal indicators in the side mirrors.
Option for the liftgate (full gate or glass only)
At least a Class I receiver (bike racks, PWC)
(I'm sure I'll think of more)

Things that surprise me:
The ACC with Traffic Jam works GREAT
Rear seat legroom is wonderful. I had a coworker who is 6'4" sit in back. He fit!
The ride (bumps/holes/seams) is smooth for it's size. (4Motion model)
For it's size and power, does pretty good
If you're using navigation via Android Auto, you can get the turn navigation to show on the main display

I wish the Taos came with:
Paddle Shifters - Especially in models equipped with the DSG tranny. That delay when you press down on the gas pedal when accelerating from cruising speed or from a dead stop is a downer. If the car can't react faster, I'd rather do the shifting myself. Sure, I can use the gear selector lever but the shifting motion to shift to a lower gear seems unnatural to me.

Auto Folding Side Mirrors: VW should make this feature a standard especially when parking stalls are getting narrower.

SD card slot. I have an SD card with a ton of music from my Tiguan.
And an engine that doesn't die when you stop... :D (Though my SE 4Motion hasn't done it!)
There we go, SD card slot. I agree, I have TONS of ripped CD's that I'd like to be able to play. Had the CD and SD card in the glovebox of my 19 Jetta.... How are we supposed to get Radio Station logos?

Also, I've also not had an issue with the start/stop (of course, I disable the feature every time I start it)

Would love the folding mirrors. Husband's BMW has them and it's a great feature in a tight garage.

There are a lot of things that VW/Audi of North America are doing wrong when it comes to choosing which options are available for cars sold in US and Canada. I curently drive a 2016 Audi S5 (top spec). It does not have power folding side mirrors which is available in other markets worldwide. However, the 2016 Audi SQ5 (SUV) has it. What a head scratcher.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that a Power Rear Hatch was not included in the Taos. Not even on the SEL Trim? The damn handle reach is so high, anyone under 5`8` can't grasp it to close! Bet it`s included next year on the 23` Run.

I'll take that bet!
Maybe I'm just old fashioned (or just old) but that's never been something I've been concerned about. The wife's Q3 has one, and it just seems like overkill to me. I was cleaning the inside of her rear window yesterday and I realized I couldn't hold the hatch halfway closed to reach the glass easily. And when you want to close it, the button to do that is higher up than a handle would be. I have to stretch for it (I'm 5'5" but so is my doctor so we're both officially 5'6"!).
One morning I came out of the house and her hatch was wide open. Presumably all night. Don't know if someone accidentally pressed the button on the key or if it just opened by itself. I've read about people having that happen when the car was parked in the garage so the hatch hits the garage door and gets damaged!
I can reach the handle on the Taos easily flat footed - maybe I just have orangutan arms... :)

More lighting
- Ambient lighting in footwells
- Lighting in the glove box and center console storage (This has been basically standard for decades)
- LED bulbs and second light in the cargo area
Dimming and Folding Side mirrors
Memory Seats
Dual Zone Lock/Unlock Button (once for single door or side of the car, twice for the whole car)
- I miss the unlock sensor being on the inside of the door handle, but that's nitpicky
Surround-view camera
- The extra camera views make parallel parking and parking alongside a curb without getting curb rash so easy

Wish it came w/ a real center armrest/storage bin, that little sliver will barely hold an elbow, and lift open the top and you have enough room for a couple bags of skittles.

And a horn that doesn't sound like you're squeezing a clowns' nose :(

Kinda indifferent on that. Don't need to check and see if my shoes are tied while driving in the dark. But nice to have when getting in/out

100% agree. It's odd that the only bulb that's not LED is back there, where having the extra lumens would be nice. I'll have to investigate to see if there's an LED replacement

It'd be nice to have, but we'd be looking at Tiguan pricing. One thing that my Jetta had, that this doesn't is Driver Profile based on Keyfob. If it does have the options, I've not found it.

Dual Zone unlock is an option in the Infotainment menu, sort of. Unlock drivers door OR unlock all doors.. I'll have to see if I can find something in VCDS
Surround-view camera

I just make sure the lines are not near the curb in the few times I've had to PP. Will also have to look for Mirror Dip in VCDS as well

Just my 2 pennies

I've been driving a loaner Tiguan for the past 5 weeks while my Taos sits on the lot waiting for the engine shutoff fix. The Tiguan has a power gate and it is great. I didn't think it was a big deal until I started using it, but I'll miss it if I ever get my vehicle back. It needs to be combined with a feature to make it stop before it hits the garage door. (like a Seltos has)
