Hi, new Taos owner here (used 2022 Taos S 4motion w/iq Drive) and I cannot connect to Android Auto wirelessly. It also appears that I cannot connect to the cars wifi network bc it's password protected.... how do I fix both?
My bt connection works fine for droid auto, you didn't specify what wireless you are using. The car does not have a Wi-Fi you can connect to by default, you have to sign up and configure that via the car or vw app.
Correct, you need to turn on wifi to get wireless Android auto working, at least I had to. If the car was used the previous may have set the password. I assume there's a way to clear that pw, set your own, then connect
Yeah you don't have to manually connect to the car's hotspot, just make sure it's turned on (Menu > Settings > Wifi). When you plug the phone in for the first time, there's some auto negotiation through bluetooth and Android Auto that will connect you to the car's hotspot automatically. After that, you won't need the cable anymore.
I'm not sure the S trim supports wireless Android Auto; only SE/SEL does, to my knowledge. If your infotainment system does support it, you will notice a note in AA on the smartphone stating something along the lines of "wireless Android Auto is available". Note that this is not a wireless setting, but rather a notification.
If your phone doesn't charge when you set it in the forward center console then you don't have wireless connect. I agree with the poster above that the S model must be corded to work.
