This might clarify the dash warning light ⚠ that can be easily confused with a check engine light.
For me the warning light ⚠ came on before the windshield washer light did.
Naturally I became worried. After the second light came on, I added washer fluid and they both went off at the same time, never to come back on. I’d also like to add that they did come on and off intermittently before I added the fluid. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is annoying how seriously VW takes the windshield wiper level. The warning hazard goes on and dings when going up or down a steep hill when the tank is nearly almost low. It’s really distracting for something not that important.

Is the Taos tank 2.5l like some other VWs instead of a gallon?

Yes. It just kept slurping it up. I think it’s why it went through the stuff from the factory so quick, they probably put in half a gallon at best.

what is your Taos's mileage when this happened?
