Has anyone been experiencing that the dash often indicates the trunk is open even though your firmly closed it? Any suggestions for that?

We saw it say that and if we pulled on the tailgate it didn't open but at the same time we discovered it was not firmly closed. That's the only time we've seen that so far. Opening and fully closing worked for us

Firmly close it. I too saw the trunk light illuminated and thought??? I lol slammed it shut and it was gone.

I noticed you have to firmly close the hatch or it will not fully latch. I had the opposite problem where it indicated it was closed but the hatch was not all the way latched in, Just reopened and closed it and it latched in solid. Actually after a few cycles this has not happened again.

I have another question about the tailgate. Is there a way to have it open/close automatically? I’m surprised with all the incredible tech in the Taos that the tailgate is manual! Or….am I missing something????

Sadly no for all the trim levels the rear hatch is manual, just think of it as one less thing to malfunction.

Happen to me 1 time when I baby it, now I know that you have to put more force to close it
