the industry got rid of direct tire pressure systems years ago due to initial cost, longevity and replacement cost. Plus they had issues with radio syncing sometimes. current generations have the same effect but don't use direct methods.

Just a personal experience from last week...

I needed a bag of the cat's food... and instead of ordering from Chewy... I decided to drive to Petsmart for a bag and on to a smoke shop to look for an additional wooden pipe for this winter.

Nearing the first of three exits off the interstate, I needed a wizz... I'll take the first exit, there is a new Speedway at that exit, I"ll top off the tank too.

Just as I killed the cruise, TPMS went off... inspection at the gas pump showed all tires OK visually, and from the feel of the ride, the stealership left the tires at the transit pressure.

Got my gas, cat food, and smoking pipe... drove home and got out the compressor and gauge.

3 tires at 40 psi, one at 42 psi... yep tires overfilled to give max MPG, but with a "firm" ride.

Bled all 4 to 36 psi, reset the TPMS... will visually inspect as the nighttime temps fall the next couple of weeks.

PSI depends on tire/rim combo. the SEL has a higher door sticker PSI.. 45 if I recall correctly. I know other combos are different so check the door. firm ride is why we got a VW but personal settings are well, personal :) good story!

the ABS based TPMS detect differences in rotation speed to indicate low psi...

I can't buy from chewy, they use ontrack for free shipping and ontrack can't find our house
