1. I could not unlock the passenger side of the car with the remote after walking away with the keys to collect my wife (engine running), had to walk around to the driver window which was open and use the door button. Thank god we were not locked out of car!

2. At the gas station after pulling the refuel button the car said it was not ready to be refueled even though the gas gauge was in the red. The second try worked

WTF VW?

For the remote, I think this is unfortunately normal behavior. When the car is running the remote unlock button doesn't work. Solution, turn the car off. Exception, if using remote start then the remote does work.

For the gas button, I think there is some kind of check and purge of any built up pressure in the tank before the door opens. Prevents fuel vapors from escaping.

I parked the car at the drive in - got out with car running and ac blowing - car shut off (AUTO STOP) randomly and the doors locked. Both fobs were useless and the manual key did not turn or work - I had to break the back window which is the most expensive window to break and only made in Ukraine.

Always always always crack a window open when you jump out with the car running.
