So I’m sure Taos owners that don’t have an SEL trim can relate when I say, the vehicles sound system in the SE/S models are garbage… I haven’t tried the SEL, but I know they come with Beats Audio so I’m assuming it’s much better quality. I have an SE model and she’s beautiful, but I can’t get over how bad the sound system is! So I’m looking into replacing all vehicle speakers with much higher quality speakers. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on brands to look at? I’ve also never replaced a vehicles sound system before so any feedback on how to go about it as well would be greatly appreciated!

I thought my S's speakers were terrible until I realized that Android Auto uses the equalizer profile and what sounded ok in my earbuds sounded like shit in the car. Even with 4 speakers (and an added sub) it sounds decent once I zeroed out all the EQ settings.

There is one company that makes a drop-in replacement speaker with the correct baskets (no adapter rings necessary) but it is very expensive.

Which company did you find? Thanks!

Ok, there is this company that sells a $450 and a $650 set of speakers:

And there is this company that sells a fully matched kit with amps and a sub down to speaker sets:

I don't recall what that company had for prices but I'm sure they are not cheap.

Personally if I were to spend that kind of money, I would buy brands I was familiar with and just get adapter rings.

Crutchfield has the Focal speakers. Here are the fronts Focal Inside IS VW 155 6.1" component speaker system for select Volkswagen vehicles at Crutchfield
They do not have any verification of fitment or installation instructions for the Taos.
Focal is a well known company that makes a lot of high end speakers so I'm sure they are good quality.
