About to pickup my Taos from the dealer on Saturday, got a call saying they can’t sell it to me because VW halted all Taos sales due to a recall for a dead car after stop.

Can anyone confirm this?

Three County Volkswagen in Lyndhurst, NJ. Sales guy sent me this, looks a bit fishy to me, was wondering if they sold the car to someone else after taking my deposit and trying to get out of the deal.

Pretty sure that's a legit stop sale notice. Not the first time VW has done that.
My 4Motion SE VIN shows up on the VW recall site today for 24HH. I haven't had any issues, but then again I have very few miles on it so far. I'm working from home, my grocery store is 2 miles away, and I'm trying to empty the tank on my GTI first since the fuel in there is old. I think I've spent more time waxing the Taos than driving it!
It would be nice to have a fix available soon - maybe it will address the throttle response issue too.
This only encourages me to drive the GTI more for now. 😀

I have a 4MOTION SEL, and the VIN also shows up on the recall lookup. No issues on my Taos yet. I'm a (bit) more relieved that it seems to be a software issue vs. mechanical.

My guess is something with the horrible engine shutoff feature. I turn that off when I drive, but I could see it turning the car off completely at stop lights due to software bugs the way it does in park. I find that feature dangerous for many reasons, though it does add 2+ mpg in city driving

You're probably correct. The wife's 2020 Audi Q3 has a recall for the ECM software (which she hasn't got yet) and one of the issues it addresses is the start/stop feature.
She called me to complain one time because she stopped at a stop sign, the engine shut off just as she was trying to go, and she ended up limping across the junction at walking pace until she could pull over at the other side. Restarting the car fixed it, but she was pissed! I showed her the "off" button for that and no more issues.
Yeah, I turn it off too.

I've seen a few ideas for "permanently" disabling the start/stop feature which involve spoofing the battery voltage or the coolant temperature. I wonder if there's a more manly way, like shorting out the "Off" switch so every time you start it turns it off... 😀

My god, that works! If you hold the start/stop off button down before you even turn on the ignition, then start the car, keeping it pressed, the start/stop is disabled!
So you could pull the switch, short out the terminals, and I think it is problem solved.

I bought a Taos on July 12th from the Boise Volkswagen and that day is turned off on me while driving it home. I took it back that night and they kept if for a few days trying to recreate the problem. They were not able to recreate it so I picked it up and it happened on my way home again. I had them tow the car back to the dealership because it was unsafe to drive at that point. They’ve had by car since July 15th and have had engineers fly in to check out the car. I provided videos of the problem and they finally admitted there was a problem with the car. They have no fix as of now. I bought the all wheel drive version, that is the version they said is affected by the issue.
