Taos S Rear Brakes Replacement at 9600 miles???

Hello,
I had my first annual service at 9600 miles and was surprised to find out my rear brakes are worn out and need to be replaced.
They are both at 3MM while front are at 11MM.
I have driven many cars over the 30 years I have had a license and never had to change brakes so early even though I drove aggressively cars such as Infiniti G35 and BMW 3 series. Earliest I had to change was at 25.000 miles.
The Taos is not a car that one can push much and I drove it super gently.
VW has a warranty on the brakes for 1 year or 12.000 miles or whichever comes first.
However, the dealership has to determine that the wearing out is due to a defect and not negligence.
They are not budging in and I am kind of stuck.
Does anybody has had a similar experience?

What did scanner did you guys use for the EPB? I updated my Foxwell scanner Nt510 by adding V-A-G but the scanner is unable to communicate so it won't release the parking brakes.
I am wanting to know the same thing, did you ever find anything that works for you?
The hood need to be open no matter what you use. Snap on, carista , OBD eleven

Why didn't I receive a letter?

Dealer checked the system my warranty is not extended yet.

I bought my VW in January 2023, is it too early yet?
So what is the actual cause of the rear brakes to wear out so quick?

From what I understand, first is soft pads, second is the lane assist (not all of them have this) which uses the rear brakes to help keep the car in line. We got 34000 miles out of our first set of rear pads but our S does not have the lane assist.

Hello all,
It is almost a year now since my original post and wanted to give you an update on my brakes.
I went for by 20.000 miles Service yesterday and the dealer said my rear brakes are low again at 6mm, but would not replace them until I hit 4MM.
I put on less than 10K with the brakes they replaced last July.
The front are still at 9MM after 19.500 miles.
The real bummer for me is that I received the extended warranty on the brakes that cover me up till 24.000 miles or 2 years since original purchase date but don't think I will be able to go down to 4MM by that time. Maybe just start braking hard every day😉.
So in all likelihood, I will be paying for a brake job of pocket in early fall.
I have never had a car that needs rear brake replacement every 10K.

Hi everyone. I'm having the same rear break issue with my taos. I've had my toas for about 16 months and at about 25,000 miles. The dealership told me that my rear breaks were gone and that I should get it towed home. I was shocked to hear that. This car breaks has wore down faster than my older car which is 11 years old and has not needed breaks yet. I also received the letter from VW but the dealership would not honor it and told me to contact VW USA. I've got two quotes for replacement which are quoted around $909 to $1015. Do anyone know a direct contact for VW or know somewhere to get the breaks cheaper?

VW should cover this under warranty!

One would hope although I thought their warranty stopped at 24000 miles.
