Probably a fault in the stupid start stop every car must have in the USA. I always press the disable button myself.

Sorry and also worried to hear that. We purchased our FWD Pure White Taos 3 weeks ago and have just returned from a 2,000 mile road trip. So far, so good and to top it off, it averaged 41.3 mpg. at interstate speeds in Hot, Hot weather. I never run the start/stop on and don't know it this affects the issue or not. The day we picked it up, my son-in-law and i had stopped at a local store. He was driving and had the keys in his pocket and went into the store and left the Taos running with me in it. After about a minute or two, it shut off. I immediately suspected this was related to the issue but soon found out it is supposedly a feature. IDKHello guys, I just bought a pure white Taos 2 weeks ago, and the car will randomly shut off when driving. Its now in the shop.
I believe those MPG if your trip wasn’t mountainous. I get the same MPG in the Jetta on highways. I get close to 39 combined on a true combined trip, and 29 average in city driving with lots of elevation changes.Sorry and also worried to hear that.
