Is it possible to change out a manual driver seat for an 8 way power seat? I have a 22 S version and the only thing I don’t like after 14 months of driving it is the driver seat. I thought about trading it but then I wondered if I could just change the seat it would be a heck of a lot cheaper.

I am sure it's possible, the questions is how much it'll cost you? You'll have to buy a new seat, possibly re-upholster it then wire it. It can add up quickly.

Not an easy swap. Materials won't match the rest of the car, the controller modules are missing and you'll need to somehow patch them into existing connectors. Then there might be coding needed to enable them. Plus the dealer won't help with any of this so plan for lots of trial and error.

The the loss from trading in the car will probably equal the cost of retrofitting power seats and you'll save lots of headaches.

I didn’t know it would be that involved. Guess I need to go car shopping. I can’t continue driving a car that causes me pain. I have tried a zillion seat and back cushions to no relief.

If I can make a recommendation for the next car you're considering - try renting it for a few days from Turo.com if you find one close to you. This way you'll spend days in the driver's seat instead of a 10 minutes test drive and you'll get a better feel for the car. I did this with a Rav4 and a Taos and it saved me from making a mistake with the Rav4.

Just a thought... I believe that Recaro has mounts for the GTI... what about the Taos?
