Hi there, loving my Taos……a situation I have. The start/stop deactivation feature is ALWAYS on my Taos. Actually I don’t mind that but it seems to not be right.
It’a always defeated ( deactivated). For a little while it was intermittent but now it seems that’s always the case. Had the Taos for just 3 weeks.
So again, always deactivated, I never touch the button on the shifting area and it’s NOT illuminated.
And yes, I get the vehicle up to operating temperature.
Has Anyone experienced this?

Agreed - there are a number of conditions that you might think shouldn't play a role, but in fact, they do temporarily disable this feature (see the manual for details). Test it on an even surface - if it works, you're good to go.

Can it be deactivated entirely without using that gizmo from Urotuning.... B2bfab that costs around $60?
Yes, but it requires programming (via Carista or whatever). The most common method is to set the battery voltage threshold unreasonably high, so it is never met and the start/stop system has not met all the required conditions. I think that's what Carista does, though it might not explicitly say that is what it is doing.
The B2BFAB harness is nice since it only reverses the operation - i.e. default is disabled, but if you press the button, you can re-enable it if you want it active.

Exactly what programming is required to disable all the door alarms and auto stop features, and what do I need to buy? I have a 2022 Taos. There is too much "hoop lah" on here about what interface to use etc.

Does the b2b switch effect what appears on the instrument cluster?
No, you just get the message "Start/stop deactivated" when you start the car and the yellow light in the button illuminates, same as if you had pressed the button. You do not get any other notification on the instrument cluster. It just changes the default at ignition on to deactivated.

The Carista can get rid of the door alarm (dinging when the door is open with ignition on). I have yet to get it to defeat the auto start/stop feature. And I've tried a few times.

OK I'll try Carista App and a generic obd2 bluetooth module. Looks like the start/stop needs a b2b or similar adapter cable to reverse the default to off. Any thoughts on that? TY

My only thought is that (personally) I would avoid adding any hardware to the Taos. But I do understand your point of view. To me, it's not that big of a deal. It's part of the driving process, like a pilot. Shift into gear, release the e-brake, turn off the auto start/stop. I don't really think about it since it's more like muscle memory.
