Just purchased 2022 toas. Has anyone used a rooftop tent on their taos?

i doubt the roof rails are rated at anywhere near sufficient levels for that kind of total weight. anyone know what they are rated at?

I'm avoiding putting anything on the roof because we love the sunroof. even cross bars ruin using the roof.

60kg or 132lb including the bars. The bars weigh 5.5kg or 12.2lb, so you can add up to 120lb.
As discussed in another thread somewhere, this may be more of a dynamic rather than static limit i.e. more than the limit may make the car unstable when driving or cornering.
I don’t have any input on the rails specs, but as a tent camper with a Taos I think rooftop tents are a stupid trend. :) They are expensive and impractical for a casual camper.

As a single camper I was looking at something like this: https://trunk-mate.com/
Business confirmed that the 60 split or 20 split would fit the 2022 Taos.
My guess is the dynamic weight limit is for the rails when in motion. I overloaded our Tiguan crossbars (200+ pounds on top of the bars) and the rails deflected enough for the rear crossbar mounts to nearly touch the roof. Driving over bumps might cause them to bounce and hit. I didn’t care since I had to move the thing I was moving no matter what. Didn’t see any major damage afterwards.

The Taos has very similar rails. A rooftop tent might be fine since you aren’t moving. You could protect the roof by putting something cushiony under the bars when you set up the tent. But only for one person. Two people would be way too heavy.
