Vehicle: 2022 Comfortline (SE) Taos w/Sunroof Package

Hey folks,

Looking at VW's website, it indicates Remote Start Preperation for my trim level. What exactly is this? What extra part needs to be purchased for the remote start to be active? A new fob? A new relay? Is the stock key fob ready as-is?

Also, I read that we can remote start the vehicle using Car-Net. Is this possible without any additional parts, or do I need to have the same parts as above installed?

Ideally I'd just use Car-Net to remote start the vehicle without purchasing the additional parts required (if any) for Key Fob remote start...

Hopefully this is clear enough.

Cheers,

This is odd, looking at VW Canada, it looks like all of them come with the KESSY system, but only the Highline model has "remote start" listed as an option. All the others have the "prep" listed (which is probably just relay #3CN-065-760)
If you get a 4 button keyfob, you should be fine.. I know in the US they had a long range fob that you could have gotten

Right, this is exactly my thought. But then if only the 4-button fob is needed, this means remote start Car-Net would work out-of-the-door. I would be surprised if this is indeed the case as what is the incentive to get the fob while you can get Car-net for free (first 3 years, then minimal cost)?

The dealership is just as clueless as I am lol...

Our SE FWD came with a 4 button fob. Remote start works within the Car Net app as well as with the fob.
VW USA's website indeed states Remote Start as a feature on the SE model. Can someone with an S trim level model confirm whether or not remote start works for them through Car-Net? I assume the S has the 3-button fob, so if it starts with Car-Net, then this should apply the same way to the Canadian Comfortline trim level models.

Thanks,

Hey man, did you ever figure anything out about this.
Picking up my girlfriends Taos comfortline tomorrow, the dealer says they don’t have the part number for the relay install kit so I’m wondering if I could just order from the states and install ? Or if carnet comes with the car and that works ?

I have an S model had the dealer install a remote start kit and with it being an S model you need more than a relay. I had to have the extended remote start kit installed then called carnet to have them update my cars profile. I can now start it with carnet.

yeah that’s in the us. The dealers I’ve called here in Canada say they don’t have the part yet for the item.

Buy it here lol
yeah I know I can just buy it, but I can’t find the oem install guide, I know the hardware install isnt Hard but I’m not sure if I need to program the key or the remote starter into the ecm/bcm.
If so not sure if needs to be dealer done or if I can use vcds.

Hello buddy. Did you find out how to solve this? I just bought a Taos S and I was wondering if I'm able to buy and install the relay, and maybe any necessary kit, to get remote start working. I just want to use the Car Net for this, do I really need the dealer for this?

Thanks!

Hopefully this is clear enough Only issue is remote start and lick doors does not work on Car Net and no one at VW IT department can fix this. Irritating. I bet if this kept a monthly payment away until fixed it would get resolved. No one seems to be doing anything to resolve it. But they are working on it. 6 months from the time I called them and multiple recalls to see where it stands. Famous words "They are working on it" Cheers,

Car net does not work. 6 months and still no resolution. No one seems to care. NO RETURN CALLS IF THEY ARE FIXING IT.
