Hi, total newb when it comes to Carista/OBD ‘tuning’ etc… I really just want it to be able to set my throttle to “direct” vs “timed” to try and help my hatred for the DSG Transmission. Couple quick questions

1) I’ve read Carista is the easiest to use and also one of cheapest options.. I’m not looking to tune, really just the basics. Good idea to use Carista?
2) I’ve read it works well w Taos w latest firmware and beta iOS app, and the site itself confirms it works for Taos, but when I link to the ecstuning website to purchase it says “does not fit” Taos model.. it does work, yes?
3) So this plugs in near steering wheel to OBD port.. question is do I need to have it plugged in forever for the features/tunes to work? Or is it plug, make changes, and remove?
4) There is a monthly pricing for features/software… assume I can use 1 month/free trial month, set my options, and not have to pay monthly after that?

thanks all! Any other good ‘tunes’ you do as well?

none of the ODBII solutions need to be permamently attached. they are only used to write changes to the car and then disconnect.

when tuning you have to make sure you are changing the settings that impact the issue you are trying to address. if you don't like the DSG 1st gear clutch engagement, making the turbo spool up faster and get ahead of the clutch engagement may not drive the way you expect and might wear the clutch early. having more power from engine before the clutch is engaged will cause slipping. you might want to reduce the engine spin up if you're tyring to reduce the 1sg gear launch...

More than make changes, you can diagnose fault codes and montior performance as well. And if you want to change your throttle, be sure your hood is open. If not, that and a few other options do not appear under Customize. Don't ask me why.

One other change I make instantly is the amount of flashes by tapping the lane change directionals. Factory is 3. I prefer 4 or 5.

Very little else caught my eye.
