Purchased 2022 Taos SEL 4 Motion in June.

Right off the lot, it needed a new spoiler because it was installed improperly. Ordered the same day by VW. As of 10/31, still no spoiler.

Next issue, infotainment system problems. Doesn't connect to phone, restarts at random, hard resets, can't switch sources or stations, and no volume. More than ince a day these issues happen. I took longer than I should have to take it to VW because I was trying not to have to take too much time off work for a brand new car so I tried waiting until the spoiler came in. Which didn't. Diagnosed as needing a new control module. 3.5 weeks now and no communication other than me calling to check. VW dealer wants to wash their hands of me and sent me the number to customer care. I now have a case with customer care.

Next issue, yesterday at 8k miles CEL light came on. Took to AutoZone to read the code and it's an evap system leak. Taking straight to VW today to get that on file while the light is still there.

No recalls on my VIN. Wondering how VW can't acknowledge these are all common issues to this car. If we have enough will they start buying the cars back?? Any recourse for not being able to get parts for almost half a year on a brand new car??

Sorry to hear you are having problems and trouble getting parts. I have a new 2023 SE FWD, less than a week old. So far zero problems with it. I don't know how to decode the serial number to find out when it was manufactured though.

I've read complaints about hesitation when starting from a stop, and subsequent surging, but I'm really not experiencing any of that. I do not mash the accelerator down when the light turns green, I gently press it about 25%, let the car start moving before pressing the pedal any further and then it seems fine accelerating after that (gear selector in D).

Hi there, it should be on the sticker in the Door Jamb. I'll check mine when the dealer is done with it. I'm thinking top right corner of the sticker. Hope you don't have any issues! The acceleration lag, I circumvent by never using the auto start stop system. Others use a Carvista app (50/year) and module (30) to tune it a little. The dealer I'm at now, different than I've been working with is pretty confident they can fix the issues. And also say the parts I need aren't back ordered. So we will see. I just wanted to share my issues and fixes, if applicable, for others. The issues I'm having are common.

OK, I found that sticker, it says manufactured August 2022. I took delivery last week, the same day it arrived at the dealer (in San Antonio, TX).

Even using start/stop I still don't have any issues with the throttle response. It's a small engine trying to move a fairly large car, so I don't expect it to smoke the tires and take off running. Once the car starts to move the engine seems to have sufficient power.

Activated charcoal filter replaced, CEL went away. Update to safety system, update to infotainment system. Was at dealer about 4 hours. Spoiler ordered again. Control module ordered in case update does not fix the issues. They did verify all the issues I was having and indicated it on my service records. Infotainment still acting strange with Google Maps. Checking into if it's a problem between phone, apps, and infotainment. Will continue to update.

Congrats on your new Taos! I do believe it's a nice car if the bugs get worked out.

Yes, it seems like a very nice car so far. Sounds like your dealer visit went pretty well even though they didn't resolve all of your issues. On that evap system leak, watch out for the N80 purge valve, I've seen a couple of people had that replaced. It's an inexpensive part and easy to replace. I replaced it in our 2013 Passat, but then found the real problem was the dealer left off a small hose clamp on the hose going to the charcoal cannister last time they were working on the engine (I no longer take the car to that dealer for service.)

I put up with these problems for a year - contacted a Lemon Law attorney and got a buy back last month. I loved my TAOS when it worked smoothly. Keep in mind, once they buy back your car, trying to find another vehicle is not easy. I bought a used car, my first in 40+ years but don't feel nearly as safe as a new vehicle, should I have a major crash. Good Luck - it is a tough decision - hope the dealer you are using now fixes your problem.

I have had my Taos SE for 3 months. Got into an argument with a parking garage attendant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and had to BACK UP out of the garage into the street to exit the lot. I didnt see a scaffold and tore off the right mirror. This was three weeks ago. My local body shop called and there are no mirrors in the continental US or Canada. In fact, one dealer told me they will not have them until the next production run of the car. Also my Sirius radio freezes about once a week. I have had them send me a refresh signal but it still happens.
