The sound happens after about 10 minutes of driving and it sounds like it's coming from the windshield. It only happens once a day but it's still concerning as it sounds like a rock is hitting the windshield.

I have the same issue. Definitely freaked me out first time it happened -- planning to ask when I bring it in next.

It seems to happen when the temperature is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit and not so much on warmer days.

Same here. It’s very loud and startles everyone in the car. It sounds exactly like a large rock had hit the windshield on the passenger side. I’m only 500 miles in on this Taos SEL 4 motion and this noise has happened many times. I have a service appointment scheduled for 1/10/22, but trying to get in sooner. I worry that they won’t be able to replicate at the appointment. Has anyone figured out what this is? I’m in upstate NY

I took my Taos in yesterday to get the popping sound looked at. The service department said they couldn't find anything wrong so this was a wasted trip. I will reschedule with another dealership.

Omg that sucks! Clearly it's a problem if we're all having the same issue.

Were they able to tell you why this is happening?

God I’m happy it wasn’t just me. It seems to be on the super cold mornings. I thought it was from the windshield also

I hear it. Same thing my Veloster Turbo does. There are various checks the car regularly does shortly after start up and shortly after shut down (you should hear some odds and ends sounds when you turn the car off too). I’m personally not worried about it.
