nice! we only hear about the issues in forums so this is great. we're in the same boat, 12k and going good
I never had a real scary moment, but when I brought it in for the 10k service they did an ECC update for me, which I've noticed an improved response. We have the same MY and trim as you and we have had no issues, currently at 8k miles. It seems that everyone has throttle response issues with the DSG but I am not sure people realize the transmission learns your driving style. When we first got it the throttle response was so delayed it was almost scary making turns, but after a couple of days of flooring it the response improved a lot. Acceleration is instant now, the only thing I am concerned about is the head gasket.
So far great car!
I hope it’s just a glitch with the light and not the actual airbag malfunction. Good luck.We are at a year and a half and 35000 miles with our 22 Taos S. Replaced the rear brakes 1000 miles ago and now have the very first issue which is an airbag light. Trying to find time for the hour and a half trip to the nearest dealer. But still running strong.
Fingers crossed that it’s a code you can clear and you can forego the 1 1/2 hour ride.Well luckily I purchased the scan tool to do the rear brakes so I should be able to se what the computer says the issue is. I may be able to clear the code and the light if it was just a glitch.
Your rear brakes are under warranty. Get VW to reimburse you for this.We are at a year and a half and 35000 miles with our 22 Taos S. They had 32000 miles on them. Last I heard warranty was up to 24000Your rear brakes are under warranty. Get VW to reimburse you for this.
I would try anyway. We just had our's replaced today with 13,000 miles and the pads were almost gone. They had 32000 miles on them. Last I heard warranty was up to 24000
Between the scan tool and the brake pads I have $60 in the rear brake pad replacement. I know of no auto manufacturers that cover brake pads over 30,000 miles never mind to 24000 like Volkswagen does with the extension they already have out there.I would try anyway. The original brake pads are a bad design and VW is well aware of it. I guess your wealthy enough not to worry about it!Between the scan tool and the brake pads I have $60 in the rear brake pad replacement. Has nothing to do with wealth but plenty to d with picking my battles. Poor design or not they are out of warranty. Doesn't matter that my 16 Dodge Journey just rolled 130,000 and still has the original brakes. Being a former mechanic I have seen plenty of brakes worn out by 30000 miles and it is not an unreasonable number. I am diffing up my paperwork as I am supposed to have free tire rotations and was charged for one at the 20000 mile service. a refund for $22 brake pads ( the scan toll would not be covered by anything) is not worth the time to argue over when the mileage is out of coverage. The original brake pads are a bad design and VW is well aware of it. That’s great news.Good news
Plugged the scan tool in and pulled the airbag codes. Code was for a faulty drivers side sensor for the side airbag. A reset of the code cleared it and it did not return. The scan tool might of just saved me 3 hours of round trip driving and whatever time at the dealer took to see what was happening. As the code did not come right back means the sensor is working now. Possibly a Can-bus glitch in the communications or an intermittent sensor either of which would've meant a wasted drive this time with a bring it back if it happens again. Back to smooth sailing.
