Got these off of Amazon. First got 47”, they physically didn’t work. So I reordered 54”.
I'm on the fence… are they too long?

Take the plastic end caps off, cut the aluminum down to whatever length you think looks best, then snap the plastic end caps back in.

Depends on what you are using them for. We have 60" Yakima bars on ours for carrying stacked whitewater kayaks. And sometimes I wish they were longer.

I'm putting 78" ones on mine out of necessity for whitewater kayaks and an inflatable drift boat. The mirror-to-mirror distance is about 84 inches, so I'll be legal. My advice would be to leave them alone - the extra room may come in handy.
