so When I bought my taos a few months ago right before I left the dealer I checked the oil it was right on the full Mark At 500 miles I checked it again it was still full I know brand new vehicles brand new engines sometimes Will use a little oil so I get in the habit of checking a brand new cars oil quite a bit for the first few hundred miles so at a thousand miles checked it again noticed it didn’t lose oil but it had gained oil I thought that was kind of odd didn’t worry that much then usually after that first thousand miles I will start checking the oil of a car every 2000 miles until the oil change just something I do so here I am not quite 2000 miles I checked it just now and the oil level has gotten even higher funny as it sounds I pulled a dipstick again smelled the oil I don’t smell gasoline it’s definitely not coolant because it’s not milky just trying to figure out what’s going on here has anybody noticed this before yourselves with their vehicle and before you ask each time the oil was checked it was level and in my garage for several hours before I would check it what do y’all think

Yeah that’s what I plan to do and I never plan to do a 10,000 mile oil change I was gonna do more like seven on all my other cars I was doing 6000 mile oil changes but I’ll stretch this one an extra thousand far as being level the garage is attached to the house it’s as level as it’s going to get and every time I check the oil it’s always the same method in the garage parked the same way the same of amount of time after I’ve driven it for some reason the level just keeps going up I don’t know I’ll check back again in 2000 more miles and see where it’s at Maybe this oil change would be a good sample to send off to like Blackstone to get a Oil analysis even though this would be the first oil change that I’m sampling just curious to know what’s in there I guess

If VW warranty were to be called upon at what point will they do something? Wait until the end of warranty to magically discover your burning oil engine?

Best to keep track of and save everything for worst case scenario as you'll have the evidence.

Wow. My Audi Q3 was about twice the size. Previous cars larger than that. I was just really surprised. And I would think an pil filter would be proportionate to the amount of oil, not engine size. So the Audi and the Taos take the same amount of oil.

Interesting.
