Bought my wife a 22 Taos Se, August of 2022, not a single issue till last week. EPC light came on,dealer said "engine starter performance" cruise control shut off. Came back next day, dropped at dealer and got a loaner, they tested, drove it with no problems. My wife has to go 175 miles tomorrow, concerned but I have great towing. 9k miles with no problems till now.

I had a similar experience. 2022 Taos SE, I was on a long roadtrip. The check engine light came on. I kept driving and about 500 miles the EPC light came on and the car went into the limp mode. The dealership said it was because I didn't have the oil dipstick in all the way. They reset the computer. No apologies from VW. By the way, the dipstick was in properly. Maybe there is a blowback issue where the dipstick pops out.

I have a difficult time believing the " oil dipstick" diagnosis.Fortunately I have a dealership that is pretty good about problems, have known them a long time. That being said I always keep VW of America's phone number in my wallet. I bought a new vehicle to not have problems, having gone through dieselgate.

Well, I too went through "diesel gate". They took back my Passat for a good price. Later, I bought a new Touareg TDI that had been immision-fixed. It runs great. Now, if you don't believe the "Dipstck" problem with the 2022 Taos SE, I have the service order from the dealership. Well, I did tell them I know how to check oil when they told me the problem. Supposedly, this made the car go into the limp mode. I suspect there is more to the issue because it went into the limp mode. If you pull out the dipstick, while the car is running, you can hear the air being sucked in and when you put the dipstick back in, the engine idle smoothes out. My guess is this new model of VW has a few bugs that need to be worked out, with the computer control.

I'm sure the check engine light is a money maker for dealerships. Apparently, it was not enough for them. So, an EPC light and going into the limp mode is probably a money maker for them. They just have to clear the fault codes. Luckily, it was under warrenty. I should send my invoice to VW Corporation.

I read the post on the dipstick thing.
Weird. I could see the oil cap maybe, but the stick goes into the oil when u check it. With it running ,and stick out,
I would check the level. Air at the end of the tube ,not good. Should be oil there , a little high cause of movement.
I have a ,22 Taos S. No problems.
Good luck.

Back at the dealership twice, consulting with VW, finally replaced the starter, the start/stop function was apparently at fault.
