I just tried tp update my maps today. Could not get it to work. As often the VW case, instructions are not at all clear.

Maps available here:

Instructions (necessary) here:

Now, for example - does this make sense to you? MENU button? Setup option?

I have settings and system info. But not as described here:

Use the “MENU” button to check what version of map material you are using in your Discover
Media
.
On your display, tap the “Setup” option and select “Version information”.
The version status is specified in the format "YY.MM". For example, if the status of the map material is
from March 2020, the format “20.03” is displayed.

Anyone try this? Successful?

Seems I have 20.7 or July 2020. Downloaded Feb 21 I think. From memory. At any rate, definitely newer than mine. Did not work.

I do not believe the OTA includes maps. The download for maps is 18 GB compressed and 27 uncompressed. I doubt the TAOS uses all of those files, but still. And the site would not say available to download and not mention OTA if it was available that way as well.

How do we know the current version thats out there? I'm in Canada and don't have OTA (for some reason, VW Canada decided not to give us CarNet... grr). I've downloaded the maps from the VW Website, but can't even tell which version it is. Don't want to waste my time (or gas/battery) if I already have the most recent...

Current INSTALLED version is listed under settings / system on your MMI. Download latest ( I have already emailed VW to have them show the version BEFORE you download - how foolish), open the compressed file and look at the date. What I have installed is 20.03 as I said above. Latest is 21.02 based on the date of files in the download. BUT, it will not install in my car. So multiple poor coding and user experience demerits for VW on this process.

AND, as mentioned, MAP UPDATES are NOT OTA. At least not yet and I doubt they will be because of the size of files.

Same for me. Will not install.

What are your fault codes?
What AREN'T my fault codes is the better question.... lol I've owned this car for a little over a month and it's been in the garage more time than it's been in MY garage... lol Dealer says maps have been updated, I'll post with the version when I get my car back...

I've had 7 codes this round for instrument cluster, passenger door (didn't know this was a thing lol), transmission, and Heating/Cooling system. This is after I had it in the shop two weeks into owning it (with only 523km driven) for a new starter...

You make me afraid to check my codes.
May be worth it.... my AC unit has been fixed. There was just a leak.

My maps are showing 20.7 as current and the dealer wasn't able to update either, so guessing that's the most current for the Taos Highline in Canada (SEL).

As for the mechanical faults, I have enough evidence now that shows my dealer didn't do a proper PDI prior to me taking it off the lot: the AC code was displayed basically since-new and they didn't do the recall repair before I took it home. Horrible dealer... Gave me a water bottle as a "sorry".. lol
