Hi! just traded my VW Beetle in for a Taos on account of needing more room for my business. While I LOVE the way it looks, and I love the space, there are a few things that are pretty concerning to me. Is anyone having problems with acceleration? Like, kicking into first gear? I feel like pulling into traffic is somewhat suicide unless the road is clear, bc you never know if it's going to actually accelerate, or be completely delayed. I've tried going past D on the gear shirt to S (sport) and it helps a bit, but its nothing like the pick up of my beetle. Another thing, being in Georgia--- the fact that the AC turns off when the motor turns off at red lights is highly problematic. I know I know, you can turn this function off, but not permanently. You have to push the button to turn it off every time you restart your car. Then one last thing that is bugging me... and I get that this is literally the dumbest, but i'm a designer.... why, WHY, with a black interior, is there a navy blue cockpit?

Haven't noticed any problem w/ 1st gear lag/acceleration, really enjoying the way it drives overall. I do hate ESS systems in all these new vehicles, wish they would be eliminated. The complexity just to save a drip or two of gas is BS, I have a Tazer bypass module in my Jeep, hopefully they'll have a similar unit for the Taos soon (although it's already an automatic move to push that button prior to taking off, lol)..
As far as that slate blue trim panel on the dash and sides, IMO it looks good, at least with our Platinum Gray color. Not sure how it would go w/ several of the colors though.
Hopefully your acceleration issues are something that can be easily fixed, and I guess you could always vinyl wrap those inside panels if you want a different look :)

That acceleration thing was same on 1st year Tiguans (gen 2). Drive in S. It’s sportier anyway.

As for start/stop, welcome to 2018 as well. It is a HORRIBLE requirement put in place by the government, it is dangerous due to locking your steering at a stop light and shutting off your car when parked, and the two solutions are to disable each time or modify the computer to trick it into thinking the battery is “low” all the time so it won’t engage.

I still think my "short out the button with a bit of wire" trick would work, but I haven't actually tried it yet.
In theory, the start/stop system takes into account battery status, interior cabin temperature, engine temperature, exterior temperature, cabin humidity, and will not engage if the windshield defroster is active. Having said that, I hate it with a passion and just want it to go away.

Also, the blue works well with Cornflower blue, but do the red ones have that too? That might be a little odd looking.

True, but it also turns the vehicle off in park when it feels like it and then relies on YOU to restart it. Which I am surprised hasn’t led to the hospitalization of an infant yet…

Yeah I was pulling into my garage the other day and I hadn't totally stopped but I heard the starter engage and I'm thinking "WTF?"
I think I forgot to turn it off... :)
Oh I hate it...!

Yeah, I just don't understand the mentality of having to squeeze every last mpg out of these things, for the most part VWs get exceptional mpg vs. most other makes. Having all the associated parts to complete these ESS systems which many haven't been proven to have long term reliability is troubling. I'm not talking specifically about VW, just the ESS crap as a whole.

Yep, the wife got a 2020 Audi Q3 and one time she stopped at a stop sign, took off again, and it wouldn't go faster than walking pace. She had to pull over at the other side of the intersection and restart it. She was mad! I told her about the "Off" button and she's used it religiously ever since (there is a software update available to address this but she hasn't gotten it done yet).
