Information/Entertainment System Problems

I bought a new 2023 Taos in October, 2022. Since October, I've had it at the dealer 5 times for problems with the Info/Entertainment system. The main problem is it doesn't connect to my phone. I have my phone on, it's says connected to my VW but my info systems says "no device found". Or via CarPlay, it will display what's on my phone but no sound comes out of the info system. I tuned to the radio to ensure it's not a connection issue with my phone and again, it shows the radio but NO SOUND. It seems to occur when I shut off the car and restart shortly after, when I'm making stops getting in and out of my car. Each time I take it to the dealership they "complete a software update" and say it's fixed. A couple of weeks ago I had an entire new "F-5" info system installed. Sadly, I'm still experiencing the problem. Any similar experiences out there, if so, any solutions?

I noticed a few times that has happened to me that the vol icon was for voice and not a music note. you can see it in the hud when you press vol +/- . double press the voice button and it seemed to have fixed it.

it might help others to know more about your situation, there's no phone details for example. or if you've tried wired connection, etc. your phone can have a lot to do with this type of issue.

My 2022 will sometimes lose sound.
Driving for a while it all works fine. Park for maybe an hour. Strat the car and no sound. All the infotainment displays work, tunes on media, radio station, Sirius but no sound.
I have seen it suggested that turning off the car, getting out, locking the doors, giving a couple of minutes for all the electronics to stabilize and then when you restart it will all work.
That works sometimes. I will go to the dealer.

you should check the volume issue I mentioned with the voice icon vs the music icon in the vol display..

the above is a bit off base for whats happening with that workaround. modern cars have a CAN bus that all computers and electronics are connected to and it is active for a short time after the vehicle door is closed and ignition is off. (doesn't matter if the car was started). I think the timeout is 10min, so if you open and shut the drivers door and wait over 10min, the CAN bus should go to sleep and also turn off other devices also. This is similar to how cars used to be with ignition power vs battery power, CAN bus powerdown is a newer way to turn off accessories.

you can always hold infotainment power button to reset the device (takes about 10 sec)
When it says no device phone check the bluetooth settings on your phone. Mine has done that. I saw it was not connected for whatever reason. I clicked connect and I was good to go.

So I did and the answer was. In a May or more likely June there will be a recall that fixes this and a handful of other things about the infotainment. Meanwhile the holding down the infotainment button for 1 minute should reset the system. we will see.

I have to do this roughy every two weeks. Some function randomly stops working and this is the only way I have found to make it work correctly again. Until the next time….

Just hold down the radio power button until it restarts the system, it should start playing sound again
There are settings for that.
Check the settings.

Yes, I’ve had that same issue and sometimes the radio doesn’t come on at all.
Hello everyone! I thought the Vortex was the only Taos forum, so happy to find this one.

I picked up my Taos at the end of January, and I too am having issues with the infotainment system. Sometimes the screen remains on "Loading..." and never displays anything, although it continues playing the last station selected (usually a SXM channel). On occasion it starts and appears to be working, but there's no audio. I've pulled the menu down that has the mute button, but that doesn't appear to do anything. Not certain if it's frozen or just not responsive. What button press sequence will force a hard reboot while the car's running? I usually don't have time to stop the car and let it set long enough to completely turn the system off for a cold start.
