I bought my 2022 Taos sel 4motion in December 2021..I really liked the car..I have had at the dealership several times ..1 for pressure value..twice for low coolant light the first time for low coolant it had 8,500 miles on it..dealership topped out the fluid and said they didn't see see any leaks..

I took it in for maintenance coolant was topped off again..September I had the low coolant light again just 1500 miles later..I told the service department the car was running sluggish and was omitting white smoke..the technician found that the head gasket was leaking..now it's been in the shop over 30 days..in the state I live it falls under lemon law..I have been in contact with volkswagen and have provided documents for buyback..for all who has low coolant light issues make sure there's not a head gasket issue..

Thanks for the info. I have low coolant level issue and need to look into in this as in my situation the service center could not find any leaks or any defective parts.

Hey guys, I bought my brand new Taos this February and now the Coolant light is one. I had the car in for service one month ago for 30000km service. I open the hood and the coolant level below minimum almost completely empty. Here in Ottawa we have freezing temperatures for the past few weeks. im waiting for a tow truck to get the car back to the dealer. I don’t want todrive it just in case they want to blame me that I cause damage. Im disappointed with what I read in this thread!

So disappointing - I'm have the same issue, dealer determined it is a head gasket leak. Next week VW will be in the dealership teaching them how to use the new tools so my appointment is set for 2 weeks from now..... my issue, where is the coolant leaking? Is it inside my cylinders? Do I need to request a whole new engine instead of the bandaid they want to give me?

Have you had any luck getting them to give you a new engine? I just found out today my 2022 AWD Taos needs a new head gasket. It had a low coolant light back in January at 8300 miles so the dealer topped it off and now at 10000 miles it is still losing coolant over time. They are putting me in a loaner while they wait on back ordered tools.

I have an appointment set, where I will get a loaner and they are replacing the head gasket. I'm concerned this is just a bandaid.

Yeah same, they put me in a loaner yesterday and said there is a back order on the tools they need to do it so it will be 2-3 weeks before I get my car back. I asked the service advisor what happens if this problem happens again out of warranty and he said VW would most likely take care of me if it happened again so that made me feel a little better. I'm still worried there is an engineering issue if it's happened to multiple issue. If that's the case I'm sure there will eventually be a class action lawsuit against VW.

Same, same, same . . . 2022 Taos, 13 months old and only 19,000 kilometres (12,000 miles), coolant kept disappearing with no noticeable leaks on the ground or on the engine. I had the coolant topped up at VW twice within 2 months and they said nothing about the issue even though we all know its a known problem. Finally took it in yesterday and yep, head gasket. They said 2 weeks to get the part and then the time to install it. They did give us a loner (an Atlas, like driving a tank after the Taos). This is our first VW and needless to say will probably be our last as what really bothers me is this is a major engine repair so now our "brand new" engine is now a "repaired engine". Lets hope they redesigned the new head gaskets so we don't have to worry about this problem again and they extend the engine warranty a considerable length of time to cover this if it happens again.

Did you get VW to buy back the car? My state also has a lemon law if the vehicle is down for more than 30 business days I can file a lemon law suit. They are telling me it will be 2-3 weeks for the repair. If they go over 30 days I might file a lemon law claim.
