Head gasket replacement

I am just curious how many people here have had their head gasket replaced? My 2022 with 12k miles has been in shop for 60 plus days. The dealer that mine is at has 4 other jobs waiting for parts. Just curious is this going to be a recall or not?

Yea, that's not normal but it can easily be caused by low coolant which others have reported. Other causes possible too. I certainly hope that doesn't become a broader issue
Ever since they done the repair, the engine has been in limp mode, getting error engine won’t go over2500 rpm

This is getting serious. They have not issued a recall and this coolant problem will affect engine life in the long run. They should issue a recall and extend the powertrain warranty on affected vehicles.
They told me the repair would have a 12k warranty. I picked it up and made it ten miles down the road and had to tow it back. I think the 1.5 engine is going to a bust

Glad we dumped ours, that fuel pump recall will be a pain to deal with too as far as parts and the service time
good luck w/ your vehicle, hope it works out better for you.

Did vw buy yours back?

No, we traded for a 23 Genesis G70, missed our Infiniti G37 so this was a logical choice, and wife is back to happy which is the main thing lol.

My wife's car just had the head gasket replaced. The car has about 26,000 miles and it took about 5 weeks for the repair. They provided a loaner. I would be surprised if something like a recall didn't happen.

Yikes. I have just over 25k on my 22 and it'll be a year 5/22/23. I use it for my weekend south Florida work only. I'd be pretty hot if and when my gasket goes. That's pretty effed up of your circumstance.
I'm keeping an eye on the level in the overflow? All is well so far
My 2022 Taos SE is currently at the dealership. Low coolant light came on around 13K miles. I topped it off at a Midas and was watching it daily. It definitely seemed to have decreased so I took it to VW. They claimed pressure test was normal and refused to investigate the gasket. I finally took it back again and told them specifically to look at the gasket. They said there are multiple parts involved. One part is two days away, another part is back ordered, and some other part is available.
Went to a different dealer this time and they found the leak instantly. The other dealership I took it to checked twice and said there was NO leak. So I set an appointment to drop the car off, and they said it would take 4 weeks. BUT they don't have any loaners available. Anybody have any success getting a rental?

Did they tell you or do you know how they test for the leak? I am in a sort of similar senario where my dealer not even trying to test for it....

So, this dealer could see it. The other dealership that I went to did two pressure tests and said there was no leak. However, the appropriate test would be to do a test for exhaust gas in the coolant, which is a relatively easy test for them to run.
If you're coolant reservoir cap is not pressurized when you open it (while the engine is still hot) then you most likely have a bad head gasket. This is the quickest way to tell.
