Asking for a friend, LOL. Got a call inside my house from my frantic wife saying her Taos was in reserve in the driveway but would not budge. I came out, the back up lights were on. Told her to just turn car off and let me try. When I got in and hit keyless start, at first it did nothing, got instruments on the second bump, it started on the third try and operated normally in all gears. Weird.

I had a similar experience when reversing near a snow bank. I think the car read, incorrectly, that I was too close and stopped me from moving further. If I recall correctly, it applied the parking brake which had to be released before the Taos would move forward or back.
Mine would not reverse when I had the door open. I had a puncture in my tire and was trying to back up with my door open so I could see exactly how far I moved so the puncture would be somewhere easy to plug but the car wouldn't move unless I closed the door. Kinda annoying.
Both are correct. Thanks to people getting ran over by their own vehicles, we're now burdened with automatic parking brakes anytime the door is opened in gear, or if the backup sensors pick up something real close.

Personally, I'd rather the 'slow cattle' get culled ;)

I think this can be coded out with VCDS, but haven't dug into it yet.
