So my 2022 SE AWD Taos is about to go in for 10k service, oil change and PA State inspection. I called the dealer about the ECU 24IR update and asked to have that done. Their response was, based on the fact that my VIN does not show it as a recall item, they are unable to do it. Furthermore when I asked if they could scan the car and determine what the current version of the ECU software was, I was told that would be a $60 charge not covered by VW warranty. Long story short I'm being lead to believe until the update corresponds to my VIN I have no recourse. This is bullshit, my Taos definitely suffers from the throttle response issue from the factory and the only way I've been able to effectively deal with it is with the Carista mod. Anyone had any luck pushing this up the chain and getting the update? For those of you using Carista are you able to pull the ECU version #?

Same response from 2 separate dealers I spoke to.
I mentioned the lag when taking off and they said to schedule an appointment to look at it ("Dissatisfaction with the drive-off behavior" in the TSB). Maybe that would allow them to do the update but I'm sure they'd have to contact VW first to get permission.

I got a hard no from my dealer as well when I asked about the throttle problem and mentioned 24IR. Service tech confirmed with shop forman they cannot run any updates if it doesn’t come back in the VIN verification. They said they could check with VW tech line for more information but I haven’t heard back.

In a different forum post I read that VW sometimes staggers their recalls so our VIN may not show up immediately for a service campaign. I feel there is evidence of that with the original stop/stall recall where another batch of VINs were only supported a couple months later.

Yeah, there are 47,298 Taos listed in the TSB and Google says 637 VW dealers in the US so do the math, lol. An average of 74 per dealer but going to be a lot more at the bigger ones.

Obviously VW is trying to figure out how to roll out the updates with out the PR nightmare of a "recall." As I understand it if your vehicle throws a code covered by the TSB you jump to the front of the line to get the update. So this begs the question, "Does the dealer read the codes during the warranty covered 10,000 mile regular maintenance appointment?" Or do I have to ask and pay them to hook it up and read the codes?

Don't have any insight into the rejections of the update. Mine was super seamless on a 2/22 purchased '22 SE AWD. Went in for the scheduled free 10K service, asked about the 24iR update, our VIN showed up good and they performed it pleasantly. It's a good tweak...but I do feel bad for those who are having trouble getting approved for it :(

I don't have that issue (yet) but will reach out to my dealer. Thanks for sharing.

VOA calls it a software update the way I went about it was I heard about it in on here called VOA they checked I called my dealer Douglas VW and scheduled the car I picked it up last night seems like it made a difference but didn’t have the time last night to check it thoroughly. The brake rotors get lite surface rust from sitting
On rainy or damp days. When you drive a little bit the brakes clean off the rotors. Don't worry about
It your good to go
