Hello,
I like to use eco mode on my Taos, I’m wondering if there’s a way to keep it set on eco mode and not have to always manually change the setting upon start up.
I haven’t found that yet.
Thanks

no, there isn't. theres another thread on this and I would also like it. I talked to my dealer and he man-splained that I wasn't using it right. He never really listened to the issue. I wonder if other models (tiguan and atlas for example function the same way)

yea, I feel its a clear bug. it remembers which mode you were in for all the other systems, they show as eco. also all you have to do is turn the selector knob to one and back. it remembers the previous mode is eco.

Yeah, I checked it out. Seems like if I press the button on the selector 3 times it goes to eco mode.
First world problem but solved.
does the center of your RPM gauge show D or E? in the default view, its the left gague.
it shows E when I’m in eco mode

pressing the button 3 times does work but I started turning the dial one click and then back. it seems easier to me. the D/E in the display was a question for Karen.

IMO, the issue is that most systems retain the eco mode setting through a turn off and restart cycle. the only thing that doesn't come back is the transmission, it remains in D afer starting. that is a big deal as the transmission mode is quite a lot of the eco mode.

I wonder if it is an EPA fuel economy thing - that it has to default to D (rather than S) so that the fuel economy ratings can be certified. Yes, E should be better, but it might just be a default to D thing.

interesting idea but E would be better for that. past models have 'kept' the setting through stop/start but this one doesn't. it just seems like a SW bug. thats why I wonder about the other models in the same year.

And TBH, I have not noticed much difference between "D" and "E" as far as transmission shift points etc. are concerned. Not really sure what it does other than make sure the auto stop/start is re-enabled (sans B2BFAB harness).
