New owner, so far the Taos is awesome, great ride and fun to drive but there is one thing that drives me nuts, how on earth do you start the car, leave the car, take the keys with you and lock the doors so it doesn't get stolen? So far my dealer has told me I need a aftermarket remote start system
Thanks

you'll probably gets lots of questions based on the information left out of this question. you should put your car specs in your sig...

yeah, I think the car is specfically designed to not run with the keys missing from the inside. it only probably works with the factory remote start (not counting 3rd party options). this shoud be similar to any other modern keyfob push button start car.

If it works the same way as other VWs, then once you start the car you can take the key out and leave it in your house and drive as far as you want. Once you shut it off though, you will not be able to restart it.

The factory remote start on my SE does exactly what you want of course. The remote start starts the car with the doors locked (they must be locked), and then when you get in the car it will not let you drive off until you press the start button (with the key in the car).

I think the dealer is correct - you would have to install remote start to get the desired behavior.

Which is really annoying. I wonder if the hardware is there as it looks like some countries may get it.
I like VW but I wish they would make all the Hi-line /SEL models the same everywhere in the world.
The owners manual of the Taos in Canada is just as bad as the one for the 2022 Golf R and that is really bad
