I parked the car at the drive in to order lunch
- got out with car running and ac blowing cold
- car shut off (AUTO STOP) randomly triggers and the doors locked and AC started blowing hot air
- Both fobs were useless and the manual key did not turn or work
- Called the dealership and they were clueless
- I had to break the back window which is the most expensive window to break and only made in Ukraine.
- The car thought I was at a stop light or something
- Window not available for at least a year
- Glass companies will not make it due to liability
- Fiberglass is not an option
Please let me know if you see a replacement back non-movable window triangle window - Drivers side.
owned seven Jettas before this and no issues...
I still love my Taos!
Has this happened to you?

that is unfortunate, but you should never bust out one of those small fixed windows (or any fixed window). I've heard so many stories over the years about logically, they should be cheaper because they are smaller but its supply and demand. you're better off busting one of the moving windows. they break more often and are more available.
I'm really curious why the manual key didn't work. its, manual..... maybe we should all check that it works on our cars

I just thought of something... did you try the fob windows down feature?

Start/Stop is a very dangerous forced “feature”
you are lucky no children or pete were in the car

It turns off your car completely if you idle in park in 110 degree weather with NO WARNING.
It also locks your steering wheel at an intersection while you are waiting to make a turn.
These are not safety focused features.

Just curious when you tried the actual key did you pop off the painted cap attached to the door handle? You were able to insert the key into the door. It would not have been easy to turn, there would have been resistance.

FYI, a locksmith would be a better option. That window will cost more than a locksmith.
