Well I was going 70 mph today when the check engine light came on. Mind you, I’ve only had my Taos 1 day over a week. So I pulled over checked the book and the light was not blinking but solid. So I called the dealer and it went to voice mail. I got back on the highway and got off the next exit and drove backroads to the dealer. They can’t take me till Friday at 8 am. I’ll have to drop it off. No loaners. They are all out for people whose cars are waiting on parts. I asked what could it be and he said a lot of things. I hope it’s nothing serious.

Anyone have experience with this?

the most probable reason is the fuel vapor capture valve. I think many of us have had that 'stick'. This type of issue doesn't impact car operation in any way from your perspective. the only way to be certain is to get it read. all auto parts stores will read it for free. I have an OBD-II bluetooth module that I use with my phone to check engine codes on all my cars. they are all over amazon and there are some other ones that are more costly and more capable also.

(my check engine is currently on for this reason) I suspect there will be a recall on this valve in the future as more of use have it happen. this is pretty minor in my book.

Ok thanks, I’ll see what the dealer says when I leave the car with the on Friday. Hopefully it’s something minor and they can fix it right away and either have the part or order the the part and send me on my way.

20 bucks says its this valve issue that every toas has had. My dealer said it was okay to drive till the replacement comes in. They also told that its only super bad when the check engine light blinks at you.. then you have a real problem

Hmm! How long did it take for your valve to come in? I guess the dealers don’t stock these items?

That was our CEL code, it came on (steady on, not blinking) at 1000 miles, went to the dealer, they ordered the vent valve/pump, light has been off for the past 6000 miles. I have an appt to have the part changed out in 2 weeks, but if that light stays off up until the day of the appt I'm not going to get it replaced. I figure the sticking part has worked its way loose and is now operating properly, and if I get a new one it's probably just as likely to stick, and I absolutely hate dealers touching my car so there's that :)

Add tire shops. In fact, put them before dealers.
I never take any car to a tire shop. I remove the wheels and take them in. And I still cringe.
Though I must admit, I have a nearby Discount Tire that has always done great work and never scratched a rim.
Me too! I only let them mount the tire to the wheel, and even then I cringe, lol.

Just got my car back from the dealer for the check engine light. It’s the N80 Valve. Unfortunately it’s on back order. Dealer said car is safe to drive. Part will take a couple of weeks to come in. They will call me. I’ve got my fingers crossed.

It's not a big deal, just enjoy the drive and ignore the light for now. If it starts blinking, then there's cause for concern :)

Well folks, got a call from the dealer. My N80 valve is in! I have to drop off the car next Wednesday morning. Can’t wait for it because of Covid and the time it takes to replace. Glad I’ll finally get this check engine light fixed!
