Took my car in for a check for fault codes last week. First time at a dealer for service.

Today I got an email from the servicing dealer giving me a lifetime of the car Carfax account. Cool, had to see what it does.

The first thing I see is it is reporting TODAY's mileage on my car!! Not the sday of service whch was a eek again, but TODAY. So something is phoning home and that something is reporting or sharing with Carfax as well. I DO NOT have a Car-Net account.

This bothers me.

Carfax estimates daily mileage and updates accordingly, I wouldn't worry.

I have a Carfax account for some reason, and I regularly have to go in and modify my mileage because I don't accrue it regularly.

Interesting. I shall see after driving tomorrow if it updates based on the date or my actual mileage.

You are correct!. It increased my mileage this morning even though I did not drive yesterday. A relief there is at least less spying than i might have thought

Do you have a smartphone? If the answer is yes why are you worried about if your car is tracking you?
