I need to confirm with others but I believe all the wireless connectivity issues come down to compatibility of the Bluetooth AVRCO Version on the phone itself.
I was not able to connect wirelessly to Android Auto and later had issues with importing contacts to the infotainment system. I was able to resolve all issues when I switched my Google Pixel 6Pro to Developer mode and changed Bluetooth AVRCO version from 1.5 (default) to version 1.6.
Each android phone will have a way to access developer mode so you might need to Google that.

BT modes often have serious issues with compatability. I have no issues with a samsung s20 5G which is probably older than your phone. mine is running default 1.5
