Black wheels - Confused on which model!

Hi there!

So we're about to purchase an SEL 4Motion Taos, in the Darker Blue, but we really want black wheels. The dealer told us they don't come on the SEL but I keep seeing SELs on the web/YouTube with the factory black wheels, and VW.com configurator shows the SEL with black wheels. Is there anyone who can sort this out for me?

Tldr; can I get black wheels (factory) in SEL trim?

Thank you!

they are an option with SEL. we had the choice between a 2wd white+black wheels and awd grey+black wheels. both SEL.
the builder on VW site shows the black wheels as std on 2wd SEL! not sure about going back to black on awd model. I have seen them at dealers.

its pretty easy to see what VW offers when using the online builder for option combos.

Perhaps it's the AWD that does it. I've been on the site, see no way to retain black wheels after switching to AWD. Anyone know differently?
We got them on our FWD SE as a $300 option, I'd tell your dealer that your purchase hinges on the black wheels, I'm sure they can make it happen. And FWIW they do look great IMO!

I have the black wheels on my SEL FWD. Off the lot.

Would of loved black wheels on SEL AWD. As far as I can tell they were only for the fwd.

Hi..I negotiated the purchase of a 2022 Taos SEL 4 Motion in late September, 2021 and took delivery about a month ago.. I told VW salesperson as part of the deal I wanted the stock 19 inch tires with alloys swapped for 18 inch tires with the black wheel options for no additional charge (since the 19 inch tires are more expensive and could be sold as an upgrade on another Taos model on their lot). They agreed and swapped me with 18" Pirelli tires/ with the black wheels- and it looks fabulous with the Pure Gray color I have. My total purchase price was $500 below MSRP for a standard Taos SEL 4 Motion (with Friends and Family discount). My primary residence is Phoenix, AZ so I am okay with these Pirellis but have seen some online reviews that they are suboptimal in snow conditions- so I would advise if you are planning on driving the Taos much in snow conditions -you should be certain to get good performing M & S all season tires on any wheel swap you negotiate.

Dude - is your side badge black? Is all your trim black? Is yours a special edition? Please show more pictures of your trim front and back!

It's been sprayed w/ peel paint,I'm not a chrome fan so it had to go, lol. Here's my thread on that~
Not a fan of chrome, plans for our new Taos.
Only downside is that peel paint attracts dust like a magnet so you have to clean it more often. I may end up wrapping those parts in black vinyl down the road as I've done quite a bit of that in the past so should be an easy project.
