Has anybody else developed a ticking motor like our taos ? The car only has 860 miles on it and the dealer service department has already said there is something wrong with the motor internally. The car has been getting slower and the ebc light and the do not exceed 3000rpm limet warning signal has appeared . Even so the dealer tried to get us to take it back ! Its been less than 30 days and i think they were trying to get us past the 30 day law ?

They said there is something wrong internally and want to give it back to you? Er... no. Fix it!
Sounds like something wrong with the valvetrain or timing. Continuing to drive it could cause significantly more damage if it is indeed internal.

Thats exactly what i said. I talked to the service manager to have it toed in so as to not damage it further and he did not agree. So i said so if it blows it blows . he did dot respond. So i drove it in. and its like a 25 minute drive ! service kid says its save to drive you just can't beat on it . Unbelievable ! I told him why would i want my new car with 800 miles back with a bad motor ! There is a law in new york state that says new car owner are protected by the consumer rights act 2015 that says if a new car develops a significant damage within the first 30 days you are allowed to have a replacement car or a full refund . I think they were trying to get me past the 30 day mark ! There calling vw headquarts on tuesday to find out what to do next . I told them i dont want the kids in the back trying to rebuild or replace that motor ! they are not even close to being certified in my opinion .

i wouldn’t rely on the dealer to do anything for you when it comes to this. you need to reach out to VW USA directly to get a case number and go from there.

vw usa called my girl today when they were informed to call me only and left here a message saying good news the dealer is going to do a complete engine tear down . I had already told the lemmon law office about my problem but it has to go back to the dealer 3 times for them to get involved . I just sent a email back to them and said that if a new car that only has 3 weeks on it and needs a total engine rebuild isn't a lemmon I dont no what is!!! I guess its time fore the laywers ! I thought vw was supposed to be a stand up company ? last vw we will ever buy !!

It's pretty rare these days for complete engine tear downs and rebuilds, it's usually just a short block if the heads aren't affected so it's a pretty straightforward swap. I surely wouldn't want them to perform open heart surgery on a brand new vehicle, that's horrible!

Now service manager tells me there going to replace the motor. were going to look into the buyback program. I cant imagine not having more problems after a huge job like that. That's if they even really do it ! I don't trust anything they say there going to do.

Well a new motor is much much better than a teardown. I wouldn't be happy if I were you, but it's a much better scenario if you have to keep the car. And if you have to keep the car I would try to see if they can extend the warranty out a few more years/miles.
Good luck!
