I know there are quite a few forums already on this subject. I’ve had my Taos s 4motion with IQ drive for a month. I am at the point where the transmission is becoming unbearable for me. I just can’t get used to the lag and jerky/jittery ride. It’s so frustrating because I love everything else about the car and I thought I was going to be able to adjust to it. There are times when I press down the gas to the floor and nothing for 2-3 seconds, it’s absolutely terrifying. What’s more terrifying is if I had young children in the car with me.
Sorry for venting just at a loss right now I’ve never been in this situation with a new car before.

I have a Taos SE 4motion w/ IQ (also for a month now) and that was something i noticed day one and have also been disappointed in. I only had (yes i said had) complaints with the initial take off from a dead stop, otherwise no real complaints with the trans.... But besides the initial Lag I also noticed it goes into 2nd immediately unless you press harder and get that crappy jerky feeling.

I live alone and have a performance vehicle for fun so the Taos for me is my econo mobile for my bi-weekly upstate trips so I dont mind "a little" trade off for the great MPG.
Now the good news....

There is an "Over The Air Software Update" that will make a BIG difference (did for me) Install that and you should have a totally different experience. i hardly have any lag now and immediately i noticed it stays in first longer giving you much better performance on the take off without crazy lag or that jerky feeling. For me the update to 0813 Software made a huge difference, hope it does for you.

I also have an S 4 motion but no IQ drive. My build month was December 2021 so I don’t know if that made a difference. I have not had any updates. I have used both Eco mode and Sports mode and no problems there. So I don’t know if I’ve adjusted to the correct amount of pressure to the gas pedal or whether the car computer has adjusted to me. But all good here. Hope you can get the update soon that folks are talking about.

When taking off from a stop, remember that the transmission is basically a manual and there are clutches that have to smoothly engage. Don't just mash it, gently push it until the clutches engage and THEN give it more throttle, it's the same with any DCT transmission, wet or dry. If you go in expecting behavior from a torque converter auto you're going to be disappointed. Also try in sport mode, that may help smooth out the clutch engagements.

Karen, thats newer than mine and I just updated mine, your in good shape (y)

I read about that update somewhere here but believe the dealer has to do it ? I think I remember you saying your brought yours to the dealership, they must have updated it.
When I check my Vin# here for recalls it does show it's available for mine, Recall / Service Campaign Lookup
But im not bringing it in for only that right now. The 0813 update worked well for me as K.aoi said it's more getting use to the transmission which I'm now fine with. (y)

This is odd as I’ve had my 2022 for about 5 weeks. I’ve done 5k . Currently moving house so I’ve plenty of multi state driving in all conditions and yes there is a bit of lag but I really wouldn’t have anything to complain about? Its not as good as my 2.0t by any stretch of the imagination but I really have annoyed driving it

You need to take this car back to the dealership. Putting a pedal to the floor with nothing happening is a serious issue they need to address. My 2022 doesn’t do this

Hi Rob,
Yeah I guess they did the software update to 0920 when they were troubleshooting the check engine light. By the way, my N80 valve is in so back to the dealer I go on Tuesday. With any luck, that check engine light goes out. No other problems with this car except for the CEL which is minor. I’m happy 😃
