Apple CarPlay disconnects

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing random and chronic disconnections of their wireless Apple CarPlay. It can happen while listening to music, on the phone, or using navigation - doesn’t seem to be tied to one thing.

Anyone experience this? Any fixes / suggestions?

thanks in advance!

I too have occasional problems with Apple CarPlay. It is inconsistent, behaving differently at different times, although I have not had random disconnections. The latest irritation is the request to unlock the phone before it will work. I don't understand this, because nothing has changed from previous times when I put the phone in the car and I did not unlock the phone.
I have a recall in hand that is for updating the infotainment software, so we'll see if that changes anything.

Yes, this is a common wireless carplay issue. Loss of authentication/trust

I gave up on it. I plug in my phone for Carplay, or just use Bluetooth for audio
Only 1 phone I have won’t connect anymore wirelessly. My wife and work phone without a problem. Don’t know what changed. If I connect to the cars hotspot it works but music won’t load since the hotspot isn’t active.
Yes, mine connnects when ever it feels like it. Completely randomly, sometimes it will connect wireless and sometimes it won’t connect at all, not even with the cable. It’s maddening and infuriating.

The only way I got that to stop was undoing the wireless setup deleting everything on the car and phone related to the pairing.
Now it works wired 100% of the time. And it works as a Bluetooth phone otherwise.

3500 miles and so far mine works fine including long trips. I've taken four 600 mi round trips with it recently and no iPhone issues, no blue tooth issues, no text issues. My only complaint is when it reads a text to me and i talk text back, it's one long run on sentence the people get. Dont know how to make it pause between sentences ?

I have heard if you have more than one phone paired it will cause problems, i only have my phone paired so maybe thats why ive been good?

I have the cheaper setup in mine (no wireless) and only had to reboot it once so far. I think it was my fault though, I kind of bumped the power button and the car play froze up.
Found what I think is the issue with wireless CarPlay. Apparently the private relay feature is interfering with the connection. Must have been fixed since it’s resumed working again without any issues so check and see if you’re running iOS 15.5
Updated to iOS 15.5 and the issues still persists.

The more I have paid attention, it seems to occur on one stretch of highway in particular. The system becomes extremely slow, glitchy, screen goes black and I lose connection. It then restarts and I am connected again, takes a few minutes. I'm not sure if there is some sort of frequency interference in that area, or if my phone loses signal - it is really strange - only happens in the one area. Sad part is it is the stretch of highway I need to take every day to work and home....

Just speak the punctuation marks and CarPlay will add them for you. "I'm on my way home COMMA and I picked up a steak from the butcher PERIOD NEW PARAGRAPH Break out the Champagne EXCLAMATION MARK" will appear to the recipient as:

I'm on my way home, and I picked up a steak from the butcher.

Break out the Champagne!

It works for all sorts of punctuation and formatting, including:
  • period
  • comma
  • exclamation point
  • question mark
  • dollar sign
  • open parenthesis … close parenthesis
  • quote … end quote
  • new paragraph
  • new line
  • colon
  • semicolon
  • cap—to capitalize the next word
  • caps on … caps off—to capitalize the first character of each word
  • all caps—to make the next word all uppercase
  • all caps on … all caps off—to make the enclosed words all uppercase
  • no caps on … no caps off—to make the enclosed words all lowercase
  • no space—to eliminate the space between two words (not available for all languages)
  • no space on … no space off—to run a series of words together (not available for all languages)
  • smiley—to insert :)
  • frowny—to insert :(
  • winky—to insert ;)
  • hash tag
The trick is remembering each command in real time, because if you pause too long, the text input will end.

I do have similar issue with my 2022 Taos (14100 Km). I reported this issue to service centre on July-2022 (Jim pattison VW Surrey) and they said they could not find any issue after running several tests. I do still have this issue intermittently.

Yes! Today it disconnected in the same exact spot on the highway. I thought to myself, what are the chances of that. It’s also in an area where I don’t get much cell phone service. Hopefully a future software update will address this.

Yes mines happens every now and then while I am using the GPS of the car why is that?
Nothing random about this for me. The screen always blanks out in the same spots, every time. Regardless of time of day or weather.
