Anyone else getting false collision warning alerts on their dash??

Got the big red warning on screen behind the steering wheel w/ some slight braking action at the pedal. There was a vehicle that merged in front of me but not close at all. I've heard there's been false warning w/ this system in previous VW models, hoping the Taos wasn't one of them. Anyone??

the default distance setting is "far", not sure if that also goes for collision avoidance. there are other factors besides a general defect. dirty windshield above mirror or new windshield. the camera needs to be recalibrated if the windshield is replaced. it also might not have been configured correctly initially. you could go to dealer and have them redo it

I wonder if the car that merged was going a lot slower than you at first and the speed difference triggered it.
Just a thought. I really have no clue how these things work.

Work truck that went in front of us was probably 15ft ahead, we were going about 30 mph, so maybe the slower speed played a role/ First time in 10k miles that this has occurred so found it odd.

The wife said her Q3 did it once a while ago, but of course she didn't know what the light meant and asked me. I just put it down to bad driving... :)

It’s a problem with pretty much all of the new VW’s. Some cars are worse than others. I got rid of my Tiguan because it was that bad. The collision assistance on the Tiguan would slam on the brake and cut power every time I made a left out of a driveway (super safe right?) because it would think a tree/object on the other side of the road was a car. My understanding is that it can be fixed with a software update so it’s kind of a “hurry up and wait” thing.

Just today I got an odd, all red warning symbol on my 2021 VW Tiguan. I had never seen this before and I still haven’t found it in VW documentation, but I’m fairly certain it was that same (or similar) “collision” warning you displayed. I happened just as I came to sudden stop when encountering stopped traffic around a curve. The warning only displayed for about 5 seconds or so. There was no actual collision and the stop wasn’t really all that extreme - for example there were no tire squealing sounds at all. I never came especially close to the car in front of mine, just a normal distance for briefly stopped traffic. The red warning symbol display was more shocking than the stop itself.

Mine hasn't reoccurred, but yeah, that big bright red warning is pretty alarming the first time you see it
