Thoughts on VW Taos adaptive Cruise control?
I find it to frustrating to use, the pickup is nonexistent takes forever to get up to the set speed after detecting a slower vehicle.

I have mine set at 3 bars of distance and it seems to work fine. If you have it follow too closely it reduces the safety margin if the car in front stops suddenly, and if you follow too far back, everyone will cut in front of you, causing your car to slow down to maintain its preset distance.

One caution though - neither ACC or Travel Assist will see a stopped vehicle ahead. Your car will drive right into a stopped vehicle while on ACC or TA. Possible the emergency braking will kick in, but I haven't wanted to test that!

I'm not sure of the reason they don't detect a stopped vehicle or stationary object, there must be a reason but it isn't obvious.

The distance is the key, I use one bar and find that it's fine. But the Eco setting for the cruise will cause it to not accelerate very fast. And I think the SE version doesn't have the stationary detection and the SEL does but I'm not sure

For 2023 models, both SE and SEL have "Front Assist", which is the autonomous/emergency braking. It is not clear from the VW video whether this will work for stationary objects.

Set the ACC to sport for best acceleration and least economy. Depending on the vehicle, 2 or 3 bars will work about the same. I wouldn’t recommend setting it to 1 accept in heavy traffic on the highway where people keep cutting you off. Return it to 2 or 3 when traffic lets up.

I let mine do the driving to upstate and back 15 to 20 times a year and absolutely love it. It even works great in stop and go traffic
I also adjust mine to follow the car ahead as close as possible and have no complaints. Although it does scare the sh!t out of me when traffic stops and i let the car stop itself, SOB waits to the last possible sec and then jams the brakes on, LOL... but im use to it now and always put my foot by the brake JUST IN CASE, LOL....
Honestly I use ACC and IQ Drive pretty much 24/7 and it was the reason i bought the car

We previously had a Ford Escape with ACC it was excellent at picking up speed and maintaining the distance set, a much better system than the VW version. I find myself like other stomping on the gas to keep up with traffic, slow slow response to speed and distance.

I drive a lot for work, approximately 800 miles a week. I mainly drive in the default "D" mode rather than the sport mode. I like the adaptive cruise control feature but my gripe is how it aggressively tries so hard to catch up once traffic moves forward. As soon as the car in front gets a little distance, my car downshifts and it's all pedal to the metal only to slam the brakes because it's barreling into the car in front. I wish it was a more gradual and "cautious" acceleration. I've tried all the settings on the bars but nothing seems to fit within my comfort level so I have to keep it turned off when in traffic or keep my thumb on the button, ready to turn it off when I anticipate that downshift. Does anyone know if there are adjustments that can be made besides adjusting the number of bars?

Mine is the complete opposite of that
