Guten Morgan everyone.
Just leased a Taos SE cornflower blue 4 days ago 36 months 12k miles per year no money down no drive off fees and a cap cost of $30800. I didnt realize at the time of purchase it didnt come with the IQ drive because i believed it was standard with the SE or so i read in reviews. I saw a credit on the window sticker after the fact for $450 as its not equipped with blind spot monitor and rear traffic alert. I asked the sales rep and they said IQ drive wasn't standard on all SE models. Does anyone know the real answer please stand up 😊

Cheers Brett

Congrats on your Taos!
It's not standard from what I believe. I have a '22 SE but mine has blind spot monitor and rear traffic alert.

Yes, it is supposed to be standard on all 2023 SE's. For 2022 it wasn't (it was a $900 option) but for 2023 they added all the IQ.DRIVE features as standard.

What happened with your vehicle is they were not able to install the blind spot monitor and rear traffic alert so they gave a $450 credit. I would ask the dealer if these can be added later when parts are available. Probably the radar transmitters in the rear corners are missing but if the wiring for them is there maybe it could be retrofitted by the dealer once parts were available.

We were about to buy a 2022 SE FWD, and the salesman said it had all the IQ.DRIVE features. When we went to pick it up and actually pay for it, he admitted it had none of those features, so we decided to wait for a 2023 (just took another month or so). Our Cornflower Blue 2023 has all the features standard. It was manufactured I think in August of 2022, so sometime between then and when yours was built they must have run out of rear radar transmitters / sensors.

I'm in the same boat. It's likely that you have all the required features except those two. That's because of the chip shortage that affected several models in mid-late 2022, not only Taos. I chatted w/ WV customer care support, talked to a dealer, and ended up with a paper letter sent to VW customer care. Unfortunately, there's no way to install them after the vehicle has been manufactured. Below is the official response I received on this matter - a disappointing one. It basically states that VW doesn't actually care. Otherwise, they would leave some room for improvement once the chip shortage is over.

I hope this message finds you well. My name is [deleted], and I am following up regarding your recent letter.

I'm sorry that the chip and component shortage affected your Taos. I definitely understand your frustration with this, especially considering that you were not made aware of the modifications before purchase. We certainly understand the importance of transparency and I totally get why the blind spot monitor feature would be of value to you. As you mentioned, the shortage caused us to remove certain features from our IQ.Drive package. While this option was not what we preferred, it was necessary to maintain our overall production levels at the time.

Due to this, the missing features can only be placed on a vehicle during production. Afterwards, there is no way to have them installed. Outside of available options a dealer may offer, or third party alternatives there are no suggestions that CARE can provide. I apologize if your buying/owner experience was a letdown in any way because of this and made sure to document your concerns.

I realize this is not the answer you were seeking and hope the exclusion of the blind spot feature does not spoil your overall VW experience.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email us back or give us a call at (800) 822-8987.

To provide you with the best service possible, it’s important that you respond to us by replying to this email. Replying outside of this email will result in a delayed response. Thank you for contacting Volkswagen Customer CARE.

Owned the SE 21 days driving down the road the engine starts to choke and jump several times and the warning light came on that looks like a ball valve which i believe is a Check Engine Light! then an error message "Start Stop Error". So this actually happened twice. I stopped turned off then on the vehicle and drove away and that was supposedly the end of that what gives anyone have an idea ?

I have a 2023 SE. Mine says it has blind spot monitors on the list of options thing they put on the window, but it doesn't actually have them on the mirrors. What should I do?
Contact your dealer / salesperson. If it is on the sticker but not included on your car, they owe you a car equipped with everything on the sticker. Look carefully at the sticker and make sure the blind spot monitor is not listed elsewhere as an 'omission' or 'deletion', etc. If a feature is missing they are supposed to list it and and deduct a certain amount from the sticker price.

If the blind spot monitor is not listed as deleted, and a dollar amount subtracted, I would insist they replace the car with one that has all the features you paid for.
