Removing the Taos center console. This is a little involved. Suggest reviewing the removal of a center console of a late model VW Tiguan. There are some YouTube Tiguan videos that are helpful/useful. Disconnect electrical connections as necessary. This is not a 100% step by step pictorial.
Gently pry off the rear vent cover.
Also remove the side bolt covers. Remove the bolts (both sides).
Remove screws.
Pry off side skirts (both sides). More screws.
Gently pry off the escutcheon. Disconnect electrical connections as necessary.
Gently pry up the control plate. Disconnect electrical connections as necessary.
The shift knob has to be removed. There is a metal clip that has to be released. The clip in question is seen just under the wire on the stick shift.
With shift knob removed the center console can be removed. Some contortion was required.
Remove the door sill trim to remove the carpet. Carpet removed.
Pad removed.
