Hi All,
Hope someone can help me out. I recently moved to Portugal and brought along my 2022 VW Taos SEL. While going through inspection it was determined it does not have the rear super bright fog light which is a requirement.

I was provided an option which completely takes away the rear esthetics of the Taos.

Does anyone know if there is an alternate option from factory that could be added and programmed?

Take a look at the pretty ugly option!

thats interesting and I didn't know it was a requirement so I had to look it up and learn more. it appears there's only a requirement for 1 and its red, as bright as a brake light and mounted to the left corner. they are not typically large so you could find a slim option that can be mounted under the bumper on the left.

I wonder if its legal to alter the wiring to force on the existing left brake light using a switch (taking advantage of the existing light). electrically, that would work fine but I wonder if its locally legal or if the taos would detect that and cause a fault. might be easy to test it out to see. the photos of fog lights does appear to be ok to have it be the left brake light.

It has been a while and my memory isn’t all that great but for some reason I thought this was a possible optional setting in Carista. Not sure if you have access to one in Portugal but there may be other options instead of mounting an ugly light.

I would buy a OEM rear fog for something like an UP. Buy a OEM Taos rear reflector and combine the 2. Wouldn’t take much. Run the wires to a small toggle switch that you can’t see.
