2022 taos se awd (almost 33k miles). Going to replace the rear brake pads. I've read that you need a scanner that can put the vehicle in service mode that way you don't break the automatic emergency brake I've also read that you can just undo it and manual push it in like on the jettas. Anyone know if this is true/ has actually done the replacement?
(Yes I know they did a recall on rear brake pads but that was only if you where under 25k miles and they won't work with me on it)
Also if an app is needed do you know of one that supports specifically the 4motion model? Every one I've looked at says it's not compatible with awd 4motions

The rear brakes are the same across all trims in regards to how they're serviced. You'll somehow need to retract the parking brake motor using an app or the method in the above video because you can't push it back in.
If you want to use an app, both Carista and OBDeleven will open the rear parking brake and calibrate it when finished.
Changing rear brakes cheap and easy.

Here is a cheap scan tool that will retract and recalibrate the rear calipers after the pad change.

I had the same problem buddy, ended up doing it at VW and the labor cost was ridiculous.
And you need to pop The hood in order for the scanner to perform the retraction

Carista and OBDeleven are comptable.
I have used a snap on one also .
I haven’t hard of any 4motion specific ones needed. The feature is across the whole VW / Audi range 2wd and 4wd
And you need to pop The hood in order for the scanner to perform the retraction
Yup, popping the hood opens the firewall
