I've been told that there is no 2" receiver / hitch available anywhere for the Taos as of yet. It does appear that it has mounting points underneath. Want to use it for a bike or a luggage rack (no towing). Anybody heard anything?

Good news for anyone driving a FWD 2022 Taos. Draw-Tite #76517 works perfectly with the new Taos. Takes about 45 minutes to install and requires no cutting. There is a plastic shield underneath the car that can't be reinstalled after fitting the 2" hitch bracket. Just save it if you are leasing. I can report that they are in stock in a warehouse in Southern Indiana. Call Draw-Tite directly to find a local dealer if you don't live in the Midwest, they are very helpful. Mine took 4 days to arrive at the dealer. E-Trailer is cheaper by about $30.00, but they don't have them in stock. Good luck.

Heres the thing if the golf can tow the Taos can to i saw a video of a golf towing a boat and that was a tsi 1.5 so i think the Taos can tow maybe even 2000lbs and have a bike rack in the back because I want to tow a 500lbs trailer that’s it so I can go to Home Depot and get wood or steel but most of the time have a bike rack in the back

Confirmed by Draw-Tite, this will not work on AWD models 😡
Had to cali Draw-Tite directly to find out where stock was being warehoused. Just placed an order today using the Draw-Tite product # (76517). Dealer ordered it out of a warehouse in Southern Indiana. Hopefully it will arrive before vacation starts. Works for me since I have the FWD, it is my wife that has the AWD. Some petty issues with radio and Carplay that were solved with a certified Apple cable. Otherwise I like both vehicles pretty well. Thanks for all your work finding a hitch that fits properly.

Anyone with an AWD near Tempe, AZ? Uhaul advertises they will custom design, fabricate and install a hitch to fit at no charge if you can bring the vehicle to their research and development facility in Tempe. This would provide them the specs to reproduce the hitch for others.

I just had a 2" receiver hitch installed for my bike rack on my FWD and it will not work for the AWD. The hitch is a; Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch for a 2022 Volkswagen Taos, model# DRT76517. I had it installed at a local Campway's dealer. Your warranty is not affected unless you add wiring for lights but since it is only for a bike rack there is no difference than loading items in the hatch.

Glen that is correct. I confirmed with Draw-Tite a couple months ago that this hitch will not fit the AWD. Still hoping they come up with a modified version.

Seems this thread is dead in the water, but I recently came across this:

A bit more involved installation but nice to see! I saw that it is also available now through U-Haul, going to check with them on the cost and time to install. The website quotes $80 installation which would be worth it in my mind.
Order Trailer Hitch Components for 2022 Volkswagen Taos All Wheel Drive | U-Haul (uhaul.com)

I sent the installation instructions to my local VW dealer to quote and they wanted $575 just to install :-(

UPDATE: Turns out that CURT now makes a hitch that is compatible with all models of the Taos including the AWD.
CURT CLASS 3 TRAILER HITCH, 2" RECEIVER, SELECT VOLKSWAGEN TAOS #13496

As seen in the installation instructions they are installing this model of hitch on a vehicle that has a rear differential. It does show that some of the rear fascia does have to be trimmed, but seems like not a big deal in order to have the functionality of a hitch (if only to have accessories and not for actual towing).

Nice to see there are some options out there. Looking to buy one soon.
